Willow Ridge Elementary Student Council Talent Show
If you have ever dreamed of performing on stage, now’s your chance! Willow Ridge is looking for talent to showcase during the 2018 Talent Show, May 8 at 9:10 a.m. We are very interested in having a variety of performers: singers, dancers, poets, comedians, acting teams (short skits) and more. The show is one of the highlights of the year! So if you have a talent to share, please participate – let your star shine in a very safe, supportive environment.
SIGN UP TODAY! BUT FIRST READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS! Purpose: The purpose of our Talent Show is to provide unique performance opportunities for the students of Willow Ridge. Nonprofessional entertainment of worthy and appropriate nature may be presented. Participants: All participants must be students of Willow Ridge. (Exceptions are determined upon discussion with the Mrs. Vance and/or Mrs. McMartin-Finkel.)
How to Enter: Students interested in trying out for the Talent Show must fill out the form attached to this information sheet and return it to Mrs. McMartin-Finkel by March 7. Tryouts are Wednesday, March 14 at 4:05 pm. Students must be prepared to present up to one minute of their act. (A full act may be shorter than one minute.) Students must be picked up by 5:10 pm on the day of tryouts.
Participants will be posted outside the music room by 4:00 on March 16.
Time Limits: It is stipulated that an act may run no longer than two minutes.
Limitations: There will be no pantomime/lip sync acts in the Talent Show. Recorded music may be used to accompany a dance or vocal, but the student singer may not sing along with the artist on the recording.
Participants who try out in more than one act may only be able to perform in one act depending on the number of students who audition and are prepared.
Student performances and costumes must be appropriate for all ages. (If it wouldn’t be in a G-rated movie, then it shouldn’t be on an elementary school stage. Consider language, dress, or suggestive movements). Performances with weapons will also not be allowed.
Lyrics to vocal pieces (sung or danced to) must be turned in with the tryout form. The following web sites will be useful for finding song lyrics: lyrics.com, www.azlyrics.com/, and www.lyrster.com/ Directors reserve the right to disqualify inappropriate acts.
Dress Rehearsal: There will be a dress rehearsal for each act the week of May 1 in music class or at lunch time. Dance costumes must be worn during the dress rehearsal.

I have read the requirements for the 2018 Willow Ridge Elementary Talent Show and agree that my child may, under these guidelines, participate in the 4:05 pm try outs on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, and I will plan for my child to be picked up from Willow Ridge by 5:10 pm on March 14.
If my child is chosen to participate and the act is ready for the dress rehearsal, he/she may participate in the Willow Ridge Talent Show on May 8, 2018, at 9:10 am.
